Built from scratch for large-format sensors, the Supreme Primes deliver what Zeiss calls “gentle sharpness”: resolving power that rivals Master Primes but with an organic quality that flatters skin and avoids clinical harshness. At T1.5 wide open, slight spherical aberration produces beautiful softness that cleans up as you stop down. The 16-blade iris creates circular bokeh highlights with smooth in-to-out-of-focus transitions. T-star coatings keep flares contained. Colour-matched across the range, every focal length intercuts cleanly.

Origin
Launched by Carl Zeiss (Oberkochen, Germany) in 2018, completing the 14-lens family with the 15mm in 2022. The Supremes represent a philosophical shift in the Zeiss cinema lineage: where Master Primes pursued absolute clinical precision, the Supreme Primes deliberately introduce organic rendering while maintaining modern performance. Designed from scratch for large-format digital cinematography, not adapted from Super 35 or still-photography optics.
