Zeiss CP.2 Super Speed

3 primes 35 – 85mm T1.5 PL

Zeiss’s Compact Prime 2 (CP.2) line at the Super Speed end, three full-frame primes at T1.5: 35mm, 50mm, 85mm.

The CP.2 family compresses Zeiss’s modern optical character into a lighter, smaller cinema housing than the Master Primes or Supreme line, with interchangeable mounts standard. Clean, sharp, contrasty: the Zeiss neutral look in a Steadicam-friendly weight.

Heritage

  1. Origin

Zeiss launched the original Compact Prime line in 2009; CP.2 (released 2010) refined the optics and added interchangeable mounts. The Super Speed sub-line (T1.5) extends the family into the high-speed category, sitting between the slower CP.2 Standard (T2.1) and the premium Master Prime line.

  2. Filmography

Adopted across independent feature, documentary, and content-creation work where a fast Zeiss prime at a fraction of Master Prime weight (and cost) is the brief. The CP.2 line has been a fixture of rental-house catalogues since 2010.

  3. Build

Modern manufacture, not rehouse. Three primes (35 / 50 / 85mm), Zeiss’s classic portrait triangle, at the T1.5 stop.
