Tokina Cinema 100mm Macro

1 prime 100mm T2.9 PL

Tokina’s Cinema 100mm Macro brings the legendary AT-X 100mm f/2.8 stills macro into a cinema housing: 1:1 reproduction ratio, T2.9 maximum aperture, full-frame coverage.

The stills AT-X 100mm has been a working pro’s macro since 2006; the cine version preserves the optical formula and adds the housing, gear positions, and focus throw cinematographers need.

Heritage

  1. Origin

Tokina showed the Cinema 100mm Macro at IBC 2015 and put it on sale in March 2016, part of their cine prime line, built around the optical formula of their long-standing AT-X 100mm f/2.8 still-photography macro (a workhorse since 2006).

  2. Filmography

Adopted across product, commercial, and narrative inserts where 1:1 macro reproduction is the brief. The Tokina cine line has been popular with independent productions seeking professional macro coverage without the price of a full Cooke or Zeiss macro.

  3. Build

Modern manufacture. Standard cine housing with 0.8M gears, PL mount, 270° focus throw, traditional macro front-extension mechanism (front element moves slightly during focus, typical of macros at this price point).
