Cooke SP3

6 primes 25 – 100mm T2.4 Sony E

The Cooke Look, democratised.

A new optical design inspired by the Speed Panchro lenses that defined motion pictures for a century. Sharp on-axis with deliberate fall-off: the Cooke dimensionality no filter replicates. Smooth round bokeh. Warm skin. Organic flaring. Colour-matched to Panchro/i Classic FF, so SP3 intercuts cleanly as B/C glass alongside larger PL primes. The lightest full-frame Cooke lenses ever built: perfect for gimbals, drones, and mirrorless run-and-gun.

Heritage

  1. Heritage

Launched September 2023 as Cooke’s first lenses built for mirrorless cameras. The 18mm followed a year later at IBC 2024, completing the 6-lens range. The SP3 name honours the Speed Panchro (SP), Horace W. Lee’s 1920s design for Cooke that became the dominant cinema prime through Hollywood’s golden age and beyond. “SP3” denotes the third generation of that lineage. These are pure analogue glass: no autofocus, no electronic contacts, no metadata. The optics do the talking. Cooke CEO Tim Pugh framed the launch around a blurring boundary between videography and cinematography, and a chance to offer “truly cinematic glass to the traditional pro-video market at an accessible price point”.
