Super 35 · PL Mount
45 – 165mm T2.3 PL
The longest reach in the EZ trinity.
Super 35 mode covers 45–165mm T2.3–T3. Swap the rear group for Full Frame and VistaVision and it stretches to 68–250mm T3.5–T4.5. Variable T-stop instead of constant aperture: the trade-off that keeps it at 2.6kg, gimbal-friendly into telephoto territory. Quick-IRO system swaps faster than the earlier EZ models. Completes the trinity: EZ-2 + EZ-1 + EZ-3 covers 15–165mm S35 or 22–250mm FF.
Character profile
Long lens, gimbal weight, either sensor.
Five axes plotting how this set behaves wide-open vs a neutral modern reference. Larger area = more pronounced trait.
Talking points
250mm reach in FF mode at only 2.6kg: unprecedented for a cinema telephoto zoom
Completes the EZ trinity: EZ-2 + EZ-1 + EZ-3 covers 15–165mm (S35) or 22–250mm (FF)
Quick-IRO system for faster S35/FF conversion than the earlier EZ-1 and EZ-2

Heritage
Origin
The newest addition to the Angénieux Type EZ series, announced at IBC 2023. Seven years after the EZ-1 and EZ-2 launched, the EZ-3 completes the telephoto range with an advanced quick-IRO mechanism for faster rear-group swaps. Variable aperture is a deliberate trade-off to maintain the series’ compact, lightweight philosophy while extending to 165mm (S35) / 250mm (FF). Parfocal throughout the zoom range. Matches the colour and contrast of the full EZ, Optimo, and Optimo Style families.
